Mohanlal (Kerala-Malayalam)
One day in 2016 May, Twitter India woke up with a strange hashtag, “#PoMoneModi.” The troll was used for expressing strong agitation against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People in Kerala were irritated when he compared Kerala to Somalia. But, most Twitterati could not grasp the meaning of this Malayalam phrase. It was a famous dialogue from Superstar Mohanlal’s film, Narasimham, released in 2000.
In Narasimham movie, Mohanlal twisted his handlebar moustache and told villains with a smug smile, “Po Mone Dinesha.” The meaning of this famous punch line is “Go away, Son.”
Indian Prime Minster also got the taste of generic Malayalee sarcasm when he compared Kerala to the African Country Somalia. While he was speaking at an election rally in Kasargod, he told “Infant mortality rate among scheduled Tribe Community in Kerala is worse than Somalia.” This comment of PM Modi met with a strong backlash on social media, with a hashtag, #PoMoneModi (Go away, Modi).
The one and Only Mohanlal
Malayalam film industry has a unique style in film making. It can clearly demarcate from the rest of the regional film industries in India. Mollywood actors are also vastly talented. Lots of young superstars are also dominating in Malayalam films. Super star Nivin Pauly has become the latest sensation among the youngsters since the release of Premam (Love). Prithviraj, Dileep, Dulquer Salman, Jayaram, Jayasurya, Fahad Fazil, Kunchacko Boban, etc are really making sensation in the hearts of Malayalee audience. However, Mohanlal is still the king in punch dialogues. When you compare an actor who is able to entertain the audience like Rajnikant with dialogues and mannerism, Mohanlal is the best.
Mohanlal Viswanathan Nair or simply Mohanlal was born in May 21, 1960. He entered in the film industry in 1978 with his debut in Thiranottam, but it was released only after 25 years due to censorship issues. He became more muscular, classy, suave, and less massy. His fans always love to hear a punch from Vijay. He is very popular for his super calmness. When Villain threatens him, he simply says, “I’m waiting.” It is very hard to step away from the shadow of fear. But, Vijay’s dialogue in Thuppakki is bloody inspiring. Everyone is using this Vijay dialogue in day to day life. Some use this dialogue with the tone of Ilayathalapathy. After Rajinikanth’s Enthiran, Thuppakki is the biggest box office collection film and it is the best action film of Vijay.
